01. An Introduction of the Department of Electrical Engineering

(A) The frame of organization:
1. The department office is staffed with a director and two office employees.
2. The organization of the department contains an Administration Meeting Committee and one Teacher Evaluation Committee.
(B) Teaching Prospects:
The Department of Electrical Engineering pushes forward cross-field teaching and integrative research, and cultivates talented professionals of engineering and technology to cope with a fast-changing industry environment. Besides, we plan to make good use of our geographic location to form an alliance with nearby industrial parks to do Industry-University cooperative researches and cultivate basic specialists good at practical experience as well as basic theory.
(C) Goals:
The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in 1971. In 2006 (95 session), in accordance with the development of industrial policy of government and the College of Engineering and Technology, and the needs of manufacturers in nearby industrial parks such as Sinying Industrial Park, Southern Taiwan Science Park, Tainan Technology Industrial Park, Guantian Industrial Park, and Yijhu Industrial Park, the department has done a lot of Industry-University cooperative researches with the manufacturers in nearby industrial parks to research into new techniques together, and push forward a variety of professional technique training and on-the-job training for employees in neighboring areas to carry out lifetime education and promote prosperity and development of the nearby areas.
(D) Characteristics:
Based on the mid-range plan and the long range plan, the core characteristics of the department are energy development and management. According to the needs of the industrial manpower, we plan to carry out a curriculum map and a project of a capability index. Moreover, we plan to combine four fields--electrical and electronics tech and energy technology, the techniques of accident prediction and diagnosis about electrical facilities, mechanical and electrical integration, and communication techniques and images handling to elevate our graduates' competitive capability of employment.

Research Plan:
The core goal of our research plan is energy development and management. The emphases of the development are put on electrical and electronics tech and energy technology, the techniques of accident prediction and diagnosis about electrical facilities, mechanical and electrical integration, and communication techniques and images handling
(1) electrical and electronics tech and energy technology
It includes a testing flat of wind power, a parameter used to monitor the electrical system, design and status of the wind power, the electrical design of the solar energy system, the impact on electrical system after installation of a battery charger station of electric vehicles, the analysis of power system elements, the design of power supply unit, energy regenerator formula and electrical system design control, the design of multi-function inverter, electrical system design of fuel cells, system integration and systemization design.
(2) the techniques of accident prediction and diagnosis about electrical facilities
It contains the techniques of accident prediction and diagnosis about transformers out of molten, electric cables, switches used for gas insulted, and immersion transformers. Also, electric equipment testing for energy regenerator, and development techniques of spark ignition timing system for a two-stroke engine are inclusive.
(3) mechanical and electrical integration
It involves self-made teaching aids developed, designed, assembled and tested, techniques development about control environment for internet-based design, application of single-crystal to systematic control, manufacturing equipment for developing mechanical and electrical integration, the design of automatic control system, machine monitoring system. etc.
(4) communication techniques and images handling
It covers communication techniques of radio frequency about wireless image and music, and techniques of identifying and testing wireless access point. Moreover, we plan to establish test sites for certificate examinations in communication skills.

03. Future prospect

To cope with internationalization and diversification of fast changing environment in the future, and important industrial plans of government, the College of Engineering and Technology gathers up manpower, material resources, and financial capability together to share resources. We plan to cooperate with the businesses in nearby industrial parks. keep putting emphasis on practical cooperation. guide and assist nearby industries, make engineering education practicable, store up the energy of research and development, and accumulate research achievements. Besides, we plan to unite with related departments to set up cooperative partnership to strive for various integrative research programs and promote research credits. To cope with the fast-changing industrial environment, we plan to push forward cross-field cooperation in a positive way. We aim to cultivate talented professionals for new age's specialized engineering technology to meet the needs of regional development, make what has been learned put into practice, and make our graduates obtain employment in no time to promote students' competitive capability of employment.
